It was never in the Yorkshire Football Weekend constitution to return to any ground that had been reviewed in the same season that was until Bradford Park Avenue finished 3rd in the Evo-Stik Premier Division and were paired with FC United of Manchester in the play-off semi-finals.

Back with another superb look at football in Italy is Steve Mitchell and the story of Nocerina

Whilst most football observers in Italy over the Easter holiday were focused on AC Milan’s seemingly inevitable stroll to the Serie A championship, down in the Campania region of the Bel Paese, another club nicknamed the Rossoneri, were celebrating their return to Serie B after 32 years.

Picture the scene. It’s just after six o’clock on a sunny Saturday afternoon. You are sat in Farsley AFC’s West stand with a cold beer. Your company for the day has been the co-editor of In Bed With Maradona and all-round top guy David Hartrick.

You have just watched the home team win 3-1 and receive the Northern Counties East League Championship trophy and now you’re watching what looks like a French Academy Youth side take on Bradford City youth with John Hendrie in charge. Do Saturday’s at the football get any better than this?

When I started Yorkshire Football Weekends I thought it would be nice to get out to grounds around the county and see the best and the worst of what Yorkshire had to offer. It would be inevitable that some days would be excellent, others would have their issues.

On Monday night I was honoured to guest host the Sound of Football podcast.

Graham and Terry welcome Andrew Gibney of the Gibfootballshow. The show starts of with a withering critique of the PFA Player Of The Season Award and the over-importance individual awards in a team environment and ends with the Welsh UEFA Co-oefficient. Goodness knows how we got there but there it is.

You can listen to the podcast here or if you right-click on that link, you can download the MP3.

Alternatively, you can subscribe via your reader of choice or via ouriTunes feed.
