On the podcast this week I am joined by Charlie Anderson, Chris Mayer and Ethan Dean-Richards. We give our take on how far Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur can go next year. Who will be pushing forward who will stagnate backwards. What do Liverpool do with Steven Gerrard?

Charlie then talks us through the Danish Superliga with four games to go. What has made Champions Copenhagen so good. Who are the players linked with moving away in the summer. The race for the Europa League and 2nd Champions League spot. Also the relegation battle that everyone from 5th place down can still get relegated.

To finish off the show we look back at our favourite moments in the FACup in homage to this weekend’s final between Man City and Stoke.

Having Gerrard out of action has been a blessing in disguise for LFC as it has allowed others to show what they can do.
I suspect that some younger players are intimidated by the aura of SG and find it liberating to not have him around for a while. Alonso often excelled when Gerrard was missing too.
Since Gerrard no longer wants to leave LFC, then it seems pointless to talk about selling him as that would happen only if he wished to leave.
What is clear however, is that Gerrard should not be the automatic choice that he has always been, but instead used to the club’s best advantage.
There seems to be a close bond between Dalglish and SG so I hope Kenny has the strength to bench SG when he needs to, but it will be difficult.
Lucas, Merelles and especially Spearing have been excellent during SG’s absence and it would be foolish to dismantle this partnership. I think SG should not be used in central midfield but more in the Maxi role.

I dont understand why people are getting so arsy about it, it’s a fair question. Gerrard hasn’t done the biz on the field with any consistency since the second half of the ’08/’09 season. It’s just a shame that in the eyes of the more ignorant fans he still cant do wrong, despite the fact that he has no tactical discipline, a weak mentality and legs that are weakening by the month. True, he was a massive player, did amazing things for the team on the pitch many many times..but the fact has to be faced that he’s nowhere near the level he was, and hasn’t been for quite some time. He definately should be sold, but to who? Who would want a rampaging midfielder without the legs to rampage? Weather or not the club wants to sell him is irrelevant, the fact is there’s nowhere for him to go. We’re stuck with him

I asked the same question recently, it sparked plenty of “debate”. The insults thrown my way were awesome, I think you’ve got off lightly so far :) :) http://footballblog.co.uk/liverpool-cash-in-gerrard.html

See this piece re. Lucas, explains his old role in Brazil among other things, very enlightening.

Also, glad you recognise how good Anderson’s been this season (when fit). Really big fan of his, always have been, he’s cut out the sloppiness this season and so glad to see him grab two goals against Schalke 04.
