Contract until: Filip Kostic – 2019; Kevin Volland – 2019;
According to the German media outlet Bild, Liverpool are monitoring two Bundesliga stars – Stuttgart’s Filip Kostic and Hoffenheim’s Kevin Volland and are ready to make a summer move to secure their services. Both are 23 years old, and both can operate in advanced roles on either flank—with Volland also comfortable playing as a central striker. Volland is believed to be available for £14m, while Kostic is valued at around £24 million. There is however, a complication that could see any move to the Premier League put on hold. As Serbia are rated 50th in the FIFA rankings, he needs to have played 75% of his nation’s fixtures in the last two years to be eligible for a work permit, something that Kostic has not managed.
- It’s not a news that Klopp will try to sign the promising players from the championship he knows the best, both are his style footballers with pace, ball control, passing and finishing abilities and it’s sensible the German to try bringing them at Anfield. So they would represent a major upgrade on James Milner and Christian Benteke.
- There is no doubt in their qualities, as Volland has five caps for Germany and seven goals and eight assists in 26 top flight appearances this season and Kostic has played the most accurate crosses (112) in the last 2 Bundesliga seasons, via WhoScored and has had a hand in 11 goals in 23 top-flight appearances this season.
- Even if the mentioned prices are believed, it won’t be impossible fee for the Merseysiders to pay, who are planning to regain the vintage glory under Klopp.
- The work permit also won’t be an issue, as exceptions are made for special talents and Liverpool would surely apply for that should they make their move for Kostic.
Considering these facts, Gib Football Show concludes that the rumours claiming ‘Klopp Prepares Double Swoop For the 23-year-old Bundesliga Stars’ are ‘mostly true’.
