According to the Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United join Bayern Munich in scouting Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly. The report suggests that both European giants have submitted ‘concrete’ offers for the defender. The 6ft3 powerhouse, nicknamed K2, turned 24 in June and arrived at the Stadio San Paolo from KRC Genk for €7m. He has made 74 appearances for Napoli since making his debut for the Italian outfit in 2014.
- Koulibaly has been one of the surprises of Serie A as an effective defender in a season that saw Napoli conceding just 24 goals in 30 matches, leaving it only three points behind leaders Juventus.
- However, it won’t be easy to sign him up, as defender’s contract with Napoli is valid until 2019, his agent Bruno Satin who was recently contacted by the Italian club to discuss renewal, may use the interest to gain a better contract with the Partenopei.
- Louis van Gaal is keen to bring in defensive reinforcements ahead of the 2016/17 campaign and the Senegalese international could be one of a number of targets for the Dutch tactician.
Considering these facts, Gib Football Show concludes that the rumours claiming ‘Manchester United Completing Standard Procedures to Sign Serie A Powerhouse’ are ‘mostly true’.
