Rumour Check: Manchester United Flop on His Way to Aston Villa, Despite Celtic Interest

According to Express, former Everton, Real Sociedad and Manchester United manager David Moyes would be interested in taking the job on, even though it is almost certain that Aston Villa will be playing in the Championship next season. It’s widely believed that the Birmingham club are set to part company with France tactician Remi Garde within days, as he wasn’t able to rescue Villa from relegation. Moyes is rumoured to have told friends that the Villa manager’s job is the only one he would be tempted to drop into the Championship in order to take up. Since the 52-year-old was dismissed as coach of Real Sociedad in November,  he has been increasingly linked to the Scottish champions Celtic, with Ronny Delia’s position under scrutiny at Parkhead.

  • The Villans are in need of changes and it’s less likely the club to continue working with Garde,  who has a low standing and defeated reputation in the team.
  • Moyes failed at United, but he was given just an year to keep an empire, that Sir Alex Ferguson was creating for 27 years. Also Moyes knows how to work with less ambitious teams, he has been extremely successful at Preston North End and even better during his Everton times.
  • The Scot’s return to his hometown Glasgow also seems unlikely, as the Hoops are leading the Premiership and Ronny Deila is optimistic to keep the job. Moreover, Moyes could be eager to return in English football, where he spent the best years of his career.

Considering these facts, Gib Football Show concludes that the rumours claiming ‘Manchester United Flop on His Way to Aston Villa, Despite Celtic Interest’ are ‘mostly true’.Mostly true

Gibfootballshow is a football website founded by myself…Andrew Gibney. The site started in October 2009 to a very small audience, then during the 2010 World Cup and the great twitter boom of 2010 things started to pick up pace. There is no real agenda to the site, would like to think it covers a wide range of subject and talking points
