According to The Sun, Chelsea reportedly lining up a move for Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster if Thibaut Courtois leaves during upcoming transfer window. The Saints goalie is also Barcelona’s radar as Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is set to leave the Spanish giants. But the defending English champions will be in pole position in a £20million summer move for the England international, who has made 12 Premier League appearances this season and kept six clean sheets.
The Express previously reported that, French giants Paris Saint-Germain are planning a double bid for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Courtois this summer.
- Courtois has been top performers last year, when the Blues won the Premier League title and it’s less likely Roman Abramovich to sell the star, who is young and still developing. Accepting that interest in Forster looks like just another big transfer speculation.
- The Stamford Bridge club won’t be able to suggest the Champions League football to Forster in next season, also he will face the competition with another highly-rated keeper Asmir Begovic if Courtois departs from London. So even if the reports are true, why will Forster leaves Southampton, where he has a guaranteed place in starting Xl?
- Guus Hiddink will be replaced by Antonio Conte next season, but the Dutchman states Chelsea position and he has recently revealed that the Belgian doesn’t have any intention to leave, as he is happy with life in London.
Considering these facts, Gib Football Show concludes that the rumours claiming ‘Chelsea Plan £20m Raid on Premier League Rivals, if Superstar Leaves ’ are ‘mostly false’.
