Contract Until: 2018
According to Football Insider, Liverpool and Manchester City scouted Holland left-back Jetro Willems on Friday night ahead of a potential move. The 21-year-old struggled to overcome an injury in the earlier part of this season and was on Newcastle United’s radar during the January transfer window. Willems has made 14 appearances this season for PSV Eindhoven and has had a hand in three goals and now the Merseysiders targeting an £11million deal for the defender.
- The PSV defender is back as the Netherlands’ first choice left-back having been thrown in as an 18-year-old at Euro 2012.
- Liverpool want competition for Alberto Moreno with Jose Enrique on his way out of Anfield. Enrique’s contract is up this summer and won’t be renewed.
- City are also in need of quality left-back, as Aleksandar Kolarov turns 31 in November and often struggling doe to injuries, Gaël Clichy also turns 31 in July and have been often criticized for unconvincing displays this season.
- The reported fee of £11m clearly won’t be an issue for neither the Red or the Blues, who are planning to regain the dominance in European football.
Considering these facts, Gib Football Show concludes that the rumours claiming ‘Liverpool Targeting Moreno’s Replacement ’ are ‘mostly true’.
