According to the Mirror, Manchester United will listen to offers for Argentine international defender Marcos Rojo this summer. Reportedly, Louis van Gaal was prepared to sell Rojo in the winter transfer window before he suffered a dislocated shoulder in November and the competition at left-back means his future at United is still uncertain. The 26-year-old joined the Reds in a £16m deal from Sporting Lisbon in 2014, but has underwhelmed as the club face the prospect of a third successive trophy-less season.

  • Rojo has suffered injury-hit campaigns and failed to develop as hoped.  He has made has made just ten appearances this season in Premier League and assisted once and it’s sensible United to think about selling him before his current contract expires in 2019.
  • Luke Shaw should regain his place as United’s first-choice left-back when he is match-fit again, while academy graduate Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has impressed since his November debut. Daley Blind has played his best football for United at left-back and another local teenager, Joe Riley, showed promise on his two senior outings last month.
  • Rojo has recently revealed he wants to seal a transfer back to Argentina once his United contract expires, but it could be hint that the defender is unhappy at Old Trafford. “I miss the club, my family and my friends,” he told Argentine TV channel TyCSports.

Gibfootballshow is a football website founded by myself…Andrew Gibney. The site started in October 2009 to a very small audience, then during the 2010 World Cup and the great twitter boom of 2010 things started to pick up pace. There is no real agenda to the site, would like to think it covers a wide range of subject and talking points
