According to German media outlet Bild, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud. Reportedly, Spurs have been watching the midfielder for some time now, and may be willing to spend between £23.5m and £27.5m to secure one of German football’s hottest prospects. It’s also believed that Premier League giants like Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all keen on Dahoud, but Tottenham are in fact making the biggest move for the player. The 20-year-old was born in Syria but moved to Germany at a young age and has been huge for Mönchengladbach this season, he made 26 Bundesliga appearances and has played his hand in ten goals.
- Spurs are currently second in the Premier League and are all but guaranteed a spot in the Champions League next year. It’s more likely Mauricio Pochettino will make a move for more experienced players in the summer, as there are already three youngsters Eric Dier, Thomas Carroll and Ryan Mason on Dahoud’s position at White Hart Lane.
- Also the reported fee of £27.5m seems to be a bit high price for promising, but still unproven player. While it’s widely believed that Tottenham will have a chance to sign Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic, who is unhappy because of lack of playing time at Spanish capital.
- Mönchengladbach’s director of sport Max Eberl is adamant that Dahoud will stay.
Considering these facts, Gib Football Show concludes that the rumours claiming ‘Spurs Lead Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City in Swoop for £27m German Ace’ are ‘mostly false’.
