According to the Brentwood Gazette, West Ham United have added Arsenal forward Theo Walcott to their shortlist of summer transfer targets. The Hammers are reportedly planning an audacious £26million bid as they look to push on after their remarkable season which has kept them in contention for the top four.
Widespread speculation has claimed that the Hammers are eager to secure the services of at least one big-name player and Liverpool frontman Christian Benteke, Manchester City’s Wilfried Bony and Walcott’s current teammates Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere all have been previously mentioned.
- The £26m fee will definitely be too much for the Hammers, as co-owner David Sullivan told the Standard that the club have no money to spend on big wages, and this would surely rule out substantial transfer fees too.
- Walcott probably won’t be eager to leave the Emirates, as it’s less likely West Ham to qualify for the Champions League, while the Gunners are favourites to finish in the top four.
- When the English international is fit Arsene Wenger considers him as a permanent member of the starting Xl and probably won’t sell the star, who is still developing.
- Moreover, the French coach has recently played down talk of Walcott sealing a transfer away from Arsenal.
Considering these facts, Gib Football Show concludes that the rumours claiming ‘West Ham Prepare Stunning £26m Bid To shock Arsenal’ are ‘mostly false’.
